But being that my main purpose in purchasing a Spyder is for weekend track duty I thought for about the same money or less why not get a VIS Carbon Fiber Hardtop or VIS FRP Fiberglass Hardtop (requires paint)? The VIS hardtop options would weight less and the Carbon Fiber version would look pretty sweet if you are into the CF look. The OEM hardtop would require getting lucky finding a color match and it will weight a bit more compared to a VIS hardtop but it does offer a heating element and exact OEM fit. I thought about a used OEM Toyota hardtop which averages $2500 and usually you would have to add the cost of the hardware/latch kit (about $250 from my understanding).
I will be purchasing a Spyder which I will be installing a hardtop on shortly after purchase.
